Jane Comfort is seeking twenty male and female volunteer performers (approximate age range of 14 & up) to participate in her new work which will be presented as part of ADI’s Incubator Series on March 18 and 19, 2016.
This new work will focus on the dance of humanity as performed each second in the urban theater as people go about their daily lives, walking past each other without engaging in eye or physical contact: myriad stories and histories together in public privacy.
Volunteers will join the company onstage for the last 5 minutes of the piece walking on a grid, as if on a city street. The 20 people will feed in gradually, so some will walk for five minutes, others just for a few minutes. We will pass each other without colliding, negotiating the public space as people do in the city each time they venture out.
Interested volunteers do not need a background in dance, just a willingness to walk on a grid and the ability to attend all rehearsals and performances.
