Glenn Sales (Musical Director) Glenn has been well know to DC audiences since his debut with the National Symphony Orchestra at age 14, praised as “a first rate musician … play[ing] with impressive clarity and passion” (New York Times). He received his training at Julliard under the tutelage of the late Earl Wild and has also been coached by members of the Guarneri String Quartet in chamber music. He has been featured on PBS in a performance of Chopin’s Etudes Op. 25 and has been an invited guest pianist for American Ballet Theatre since 1990. He has played the premieres of several ballets including Kevin McKenzie’s Liszt Transcendental Etudes, Tray Barra’s Dumky Trio, and John Goding’s Danzon. Glenn has had a long history with The Washington Ballet performing works of choreographers Choo San Goh, George Balanchine, Christopher Wheeldon, Mark Morris, and Twyla Tharp. He has collaborated with Suzanne Farrell since 1995 performing Stravinsky’s Movements for Piano and Orchestra and Duo Concertante; Gershwin’s Who Cares?, Glinka’sDivertimento Brillante, Faure’s Ballade, Brahams’ Liebeslieder Walzer, and recently a film for the Balanchine Foundation of Tchaikovsky’s Meditation. In 2010, Glenn was invited to participate in the first dance workshop ever given in the East Room of the White House.
