Kimberly Parmer (Ballet) Kim began her early training at Huntington Ballet Theatre studying with Jan Hanniford Geotz and renowned teacher, Maggie Black. She went on to study privately with Elena Kunikova, Johan Renvall, and Fabrice Herrault in New York City and continued her high school education at North Carolina School of the Arts, where she studied with Melissa Hayden, and The Walnut Hill School under the direction of Michael Owen. Kim has also trained at summer programs including The Boston Ballet School, American Ballet Theatre, and The Harid Conservatory. She holds her MA in Dance Education with a concentration in American Ballet Theatre Ballet Pedagogy from New York University’s Steinhardt School. She is a certified teacher in the ABT® National Training Curriculum, levels Primary – Seven, and holds her BA in Psychology from Boston University. Kim’s teaching experience includes Ballet Teatro Internacional, American Ballet Theatre’s Young Dancer’s Summer Workshop, Boston University, and Chicago Ballet, where she was also a company member. While pursuing her education as a teacher, she had the opportunity to work closely with Raymond Lukens who furthered her understanding of ballet technique, including Cecchetti, Bournonville, and Vaganova styles, while providing her with an education in pedagogy and sound teaching practices.
