- How do I know which level class I should be taking?
At the American Dance Institute, you are always welcome to observe a class (at no charge), prior to taking your first class. For the absolute beginner, we recommend Beginner level classes. For those who have not danced in a few (or a number of) years, we always recommend beginning in lower levels, so you may slowly reintroduce your body to the language and movement. It is much easier (and rewarding) to move up in levels, rather than demote your initial efforts.
The Beginner and Beginner II classes are for those brushing up on their skill, or looking for a slower pace. Upper levels such as Intermediate or Advanced should have three of more years of experience of dance.
- Can I just walk in to a class, or is registration required?
Adult classes are available on a walk in basis except some of the Flamenco classes in which registration is required for its sessions.

- What ages are in adult classes?
American Dance Institute offers a nurturing environment for all adult ages. Ages range from 16-60. If it is your first time to the studio, we ask that you telephone 1-855-AM-DANCE (1-855-263-2623) or email info@americandance.org for advice as to class selection.
- What should I wear?
Wear something you feel comfortable in while you are moving. However, do not wear clothing so tight that will restrict your movement; nor too loose, where you spend your time making adjustments.
Shoes: Ballet requires ballet slippers, tap requires tap shoes, and flamenco requires flamenco shoes, and stretch requires bare feet or socks. Ballet slippers and flamenco shoes may be purchased at a dance store. (For more information on flamenco footwear, please visit www.dcflamenco.com.) Beginners are allowed to come to the first class without the proper footwear, but must make the proper investment soon thereafter.
