ADI’s Summer Intensive offers unparalleled training in a nurturing and professional atmosphere featuring guest artists and ADI’s renowned faculty. All classes are held in ADI’s state-of -the-art facility that includes 5 large dance studios and the nationally-recognized American Dance Institute Theatre.
Program
ADI offers the pre-professional dancer seeking a professional career and the serious dance student a comprehensive and challenging summer experience. Individual attention and daily coaching helps students develop artistically while daily Pilates conditioning strengthens and refines the student’s technique.
ADI’s Summer Intensive is not a residential program. There are wonderful hotels within walking distance from our studios.
Placement
Young students ages 9-10 must have at least 1 year of ballet training to enter the Intensive Program. On the first day of classes all students will be evaluated and placed in the appropriate level. Students are placed by ability not age.

Performance Opportunities
Repertoire and Choreographic Workshops offer students an opportunity to learn classical and contemporary ballets. Each 2-week session will culminate in a performance in the American Dance Institute Theater for friends and family.
Progression for Pre-Professional and Professional Study
Each year, Summer Intensive students are considered for entry into ADI’s year-round programs. Advanced students may be considered for apprenticeships in Ballet ADI, the resident company of American Dance Institute.

Facility
Located just outside Washington DC, ADI is surrounded by great restaurants, premiere shopping areas and a metro station (within walking distance for direct access to Smithsonian museums, The Kennedy Center and all DC tourist destinations.) The facility includes 5 large dance studios with soaring 20-foot ceilings, state-of-the-art sprung floors, a Dance Library and WiFi access.
